Ethan Zohn spent Saturday afternoon on the soccer field, just like he did on many other August days before his life changed one night by winning “Survivor: Africa.”
Zohn is visiting the mid-Hudson Valley, taking time from his busy travel schedule to revisit an important part of his past and help his former coach Andy Jennings train the Vassar College men’s soccer team for the upcoming season.
“I’m still involved with the Vassar community and it’s important to me to stay involved,” Zohn said.
Zohn looked like he was back home at Prentiss Field where he played his collegiate soccer as a goalie for Vassar. Dressed in black shorts, black knee-high soccer socks and a gray T-shirt, Zohn stretched with the Vassar players and took part in some warm-up drills before working with the goalies.
Respected for coaching
“With Ethan, it’s nice because he brings that celebrity aspect to his persona,” Jennings said. “But what’s more important to me is he’s a good goalkeeper coach. We bring him back because he’s a good goalkeeper coach, not the winner of Survivor.”
