And what did former winners do with all that money?
Five months since his victory and the ex-soccer goalie–at 28 still a laid-back babe magnet–hasn’t given up the three-bedroom Manhattan apartment he shares with a couple of buddies. “I pay $800 a month. Why move into a $3,000-a-month place?” Instead, a chunk of his million has gone to AIDS charities and starting his own nonprofit organization to teach inner-city kids soccer [sic]. He says he has made just one purchase for himself: “Headphones. Really cool.”
