Voom HD’s Equator HD channel, which highlights sights from the unique locations around the world, has tapped “Survivor: Africa” winner Ethan Zohn as host of its new adventure series “Earthtripping.”

The seven-episode series, filmed in high definition, will premiere this summer.

“Earthtripping” follows Mr. Zohn as he travels around the world seeking out fun and practical eco-friendly ways to experience cities.

“Ethan’s experience on ‘Survivor’ makes him a perfect match for this new and adventurous series, and his energetic personality and social activism are a welcome addition to our channel,” said Ali Hossaini, executive producer of Equator HD.

“‘EarthTripping’ is an inventive and truly unique series that will really bring to light the value of an authentic and green travel experience,” Mr. Hossaini added, “and the eco-friendly element of the show is truly representative of the groundbreaking programming that Voom HD Networks is producing.”

Equator HD is just one of many networks and channels looking to incorporate a green message into its programming. The CW’s “America’s Next Top Model” has contestants driving around in an environmentally sound car and NBC Universal recently concluded its weeklong “Green Is Universal” campaign, which featured green banners and logos as well as tips for helping the environment throughout its shows and platforms.

The first episode of “Earthtripping” will take viewers to New York City, where Mr. Zohn will visit famous landmarks and sites while traveling in an eco-friendly way, for instance taking a walking tour across the Brooklyn Bridge or kayaking to the Statue of Liberty.

Voom HD Networks’ 15 HDTV channels are available in the U.S. on EchoStar’s Dish Network and Cablevision’s iO digital cable service.
