The Last Cull

According to wcfl.ca, Ethan will be hosting a Candian fishing show. Um. Okay.

North Bay, June 3 - On July 3rd, 2004, 50 remarkable individuals hailing from various parts of North America along with approx. 150 television technicians, corporate executives and World Championship Fishing staff will assemble in North Bay, ON to be a part of an exciting new television series known as “THE LAST CULL”.

(Incidentally, depending on whether it is used as a noun or verb, the word cull can mean either eliminating the inferior or highlighting the cream of the crop).

Regardless of which description you use, one thing you can be sure of is that this exciting event will be showcasing arguably one of North America’s premier fishing destinations and in particular, one of the best kept secrets in the bass fishing world - North Bay and Ontario’s Near North.
Riding on that incredible wave of popularity known as “Reality TV” and taking advantage of Canada’s #1 recreational activity- fishing- The Last Cull promises to be the most unique entertainment package to hit the airwaves since Survivor - oh and I guess this would be as good a time as any to mention that the host of this thrilling new program is none other than Ethan Zohn, winner of Survivor Africa and one of the hottest television personalities in the business today.

The 13 episodes will be designed, shot and packaged by one of this countries most successful and celebrated independent television producers, Hills Production Services in association with The Fish’n Canada Show but it would mean nothing without a strong distribution network to make sure the final product gets into viewers’ homes. To achieve this, World Championship Fishing is proud to announce “The CHUM Media Group” as its primary broadcast partner. The premier season of The Last Cull will air from coast to coast on prime time television this fall at 10pm on Saturday evenings.

The CHUM Group is one of Canada’s leading media companies: they own and operate 30 radio stations, thirteen broadcast television stations, 18 specialty cable-networks and ASN / ATV satellite channels, as well as a music distribution division. CHUM’s original content is seen in over 120 countries worldwide via international licensing agreements and joint ventures. CHUM content is also provided to online audiences on new media platforms, including interactive television, wireless services and exclusive CHUM-branded Internet properties.

Our decision to partner with The CHUM Group was based on three factors: a guaranteed prime-time slot of 10pm Saturday; our show will follow CHUM’s number one property “America’s Most Wanted” for a 26-week period; and, we are guaranteed a comprehensive promotional launch campaign. Together these factors allowed CHUM to beat out their competitors Global and CTV.

So here’s the way it looks as of right now – I say now because we are continuing to add to this list.
