“The Goods On” Transcript
And here’s a transcript from “The Goods On” interview.
A: Hi, I’m Andrea and this is “The Goods On.” I’m here with Ethan Zohn, the very cute winner from “Survivor:Africa.” Ethan, biggest question that I have to ask you, the most important thing everyone wants to know - are you single?
EZ: I’m single. I am. So, if anyone’s watchingÖno, I’m just joking. But, yeah, I am single.
A: You just made a lot of girls very, very happy. The tabloids reported that you were with Jen Love Hewitt. Any truth to that at all?
EZ: Um, you know, we were just friends, back in the day. And we’re still friends. But, um, it was totally blown out of proportion.
A: So, nothing more than friends at all.
EZ: No, I wish. (laughs) But no, nothing more than friends at all. I’ll take the friendship.
A: Is there anyone famous that you would like to date?
EZ: Oh the list, the list is long.
A: Give me one or two names.
EZ: Cameron Diaz - just off the top of my head, you know. But ahh, you know, that’sÖoutta my league.
A: Well, what are you doing in town — what brings you to Toronto?
EZ: Well, um, actually doing, I guess, your sports show as well, “Off the Record” - which I’m excited about.
A: Great to hear.
EZ: And I’m speaking tonight at Holy Blossom Temple and, uh, that’s about it.
A: Very good, very good.
EZ: Yeah, yeah.
A: Now, I need a little bit of gossip here about “Survivor.” Talk to me about “Survivor.” What did you guys use for toilet paper. Surely they gave you Charmin or somethingÖ
EZ: Surely you think they gave us Charmin, but no they really didn’t. You shake with the right, wipe with the left. That’s how it goes. (more mumbling I can’t make out.)
A: Lovely. And, um, was there any secret romance going on that we didn’t see on camera?
EZ: No. Once again, I wish there was. You know and everyone wants to hear that there’s this secret romance, like, beautiful in Africa, but nothing happened. You know, I, I was, I was open to it, but, you know, it’s the last thing on your mindÖthe last thing on your mind.
A: So you were open to it, was there anyone that really peaked your interest?
EZ: No, no. But you know you are thinking about it strategically. (laughs) You know, like all right, if I hook up with this girl, you know, maybe she won’t vote me off.
A: So, yeah, you’ll have her vote.
EZ: Unless you don’t, unless you’re not, like, a good kisser or anything, then she might kick you off right away. (more mumbling I can’t make out.)
A: Oh, I’m, I’m sure you’re a great kisser. (laughs)
EZ: Well, um. But yeah, I mean, you’re dirty, you’re tired, you’re breath stinks, you have little, like, sweaters all over your teeth. It’s likeÖfuzz everywhere. It’s justÖit’s not, it’s not the right opportunity.
A: Do you, do you watch the other 4 “Survivors?”
EZ: Um, I, yes.
A: Yeah? You, you’ve been watching? Is, is there anybody on either of those 4 shows that you’d like to hook up with?
EZ: (laughs) I don’t know. You know, I haven’tÖ After the fact, not while there out there, but, you know, I met them after events and stuff, there’s some cute girls. Definitely.
A: Anyone in particular?
EZ: No, no one in particular.
A: Yeah, you’re not giving away your secrets. I know.
EZ: I can’tÖ
A: Now, you’re a professional soccer player - at least you were a goalkeeper.
EZ: Yes.
A: Yeah, okay. So, you’ve got great legs, obviously, but what do you do to keep in, in great shape?
EZ: Well, um, right now I’m actually into this new thing - adventure racing. I just got back from Fiji where I did “Eco-Challenge.” I don’t know if you are familiar with “Eco-ChallengeÖ”
A: We are.
EZ: ÖAnother Mark Burnett production. But that was, I mean, that kicked my ass all over the place. You know, I thought “Survivor” hard, but this was like, you know, crazy. You know, your, 24 hours a day, no sleep, no food, your charging through mud up to your thighs, you know, your building our own boat, your standing up for 28 hours - it’s just ridiculous.
A: How did you fair?
EZ: Uh, we did all right.
A: Yeah?
EZ: We did all right. (laugh) We did all right. My team was Mad River and we made it six days. Which is good.
A: That’s not bad.
EZ: It’s about half-way. Only 8 teams finished the whole race.
A: Although you lasted 39 days on “Survivor.”
EZ: True, true. That’s yeah. But I, I was sitting on my ass on “Survivor.” You know, doing nothing. “Eco-Challenge” you’re constantly moving the whole time.
A: We have a little tradition here at “The Goods On” and it’sÖ
EZ: Is that “The Good Zohn?” Is that what it is?
A: It could be! We could rename it. Zed O H N - you got that Todd, Matt?
EZ: Okay
A: Well, the interviewer gives, the interviewee gives the interviewer a little kiss on the cheek - just as a thank you for doing the interview.
EZ: Oh really? I read about that someplace and, ah, sure, why not?
A: All right!
EZ: (kisses A in the cheek)
A: Thank you very much for doing this interview, Ethan. I really appreciate it.
EZ: My pleasure.
A: Enjoy your stay in Toronto.
EZ: Thanks.
