Kitchener, Ont. — More than 200 fans of the reality TV show Survivor lined up outside an Ontario clothing store over the weekend to meet two of its most popular winners.
“People were waving, screaming, taking pictures, and there was a stretch limo parked outside,” Liz Stolper, owner of Just Between Us, said Saturday after the visit by Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca.
“It was surreal.”
Zohn, a former soccer player who won Survivor: Africa, and Morasca, a swimwear model who won Survivor: The Amazon, said they were flattered by the turnout.
“We don’t really think we’re that cool,” Morasca said. “We kind of get a little surprised still, with all the people.”
“It’s always amazing to me how many fans there are all over the place,” Zohn added.
Stolper arranged the appearance after learning that Zohn was scheduled to do some sideline reporting for a Toronto Lynx soccer game on Friday. Morasca was in Toronto as well.
The pair began dating shortly after each won $1-million (U.S.) on the show.
The couple switched their flight to New York to a later time Saturday to fit in the appearance.
Fans brought cameras, posters and their favourite Survivor goods to be autographed.
“It was awesome,” said Christine Watson, 15, of Kitchener.
“It’s so unexpected,” added Melanie Braniff, 28, of Cambridge, Ont.
“Nothing cool ever happens around here.”
