Ethan Zohn, winner of Survivor: Africa, will talk about the organization he co-founded, Grassroot Soccer, on Friday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m. in 103 Rowell Building.

After winning Survivor: Africa in 2002, Zohn, a former professional soccer player in Zimbabwe, used his 15 minutes of fame and winnings from the show to promote and fund the non-profit Grassroot Soccer. The organization uses the power of soccer as a tool in the fight against AIDS in Africa, providing youth with the knowledge, skills and support to live HIV free.

Zohn’s talk is the kick-off to the annual Lose the Shoes co-ed soccer tournament on Saturday, April 5th. Money raised from the tournament will benefit Futbol para la Vida, an HIV/AIDS prevention education and youth leadership program in the Dominican Republic and member of the international Grassroot Soccer network. The tournament begins at 11 a.m. in Patrick Gymnasium’s indoor tennis court.
