Survivor winners Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca are in Jeffreys Bay promoting a youth soccer programme they hope to launch in South Africa.

GrassRoots [sic] Soccer managing director Kirk Friedrich said the couple were visiting “old friends” in Jeffreys Bay for a few days before travelling to Johannesburg.

“We currently don’t have a GrassRoots [sic] programme in South Africa, but we’re looking into launching one in 2006.

“Ethan is here to meet with some people to discuss launching it here, which is what he’ll be doing in Johannesburg,” Friedrich said.

The couple visited Plettenberg Bay yesterday and will also squeeze in a visit to Botswana while in Africa.

Zohn has been involved in the GrassRoots [sic] programme since winning the $1-million (R6,14-million) in Survivor: Africa and has been promoting it ever since.

He even wore a GrassRoots [sic] T-shirt when he again appeared on the reality TV show Survivor: All Stars.

“Ethan helped start the organisation after winning Survivor. He was a professional soccer player in Zimbabwe before going on the show,” Friedrich said.

GrassRoots, which has been operating since 2003, has programmes in the United States, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Ethiopia, Namibia and the Dominican Republic. It is an Aids prevention programme.

Morasca, a swim-wear model, was the surprise winner of Survivor: Amazon.
