At 8:30 a.m. Friday October 17, 2002 (Fiji time), Team Seagate.com NZ was the first team to cross the Eco-Challenge 2002 finish line. So far, they are the only team to finish the race.

Per the Canadian Eco-Challenge site, all unranked teams (including Ethan’s Mad River team) have now been removed due to injuries, illness, or missing cut-off points. 23 teams are still in the race at this point, most competing just to finish.

Mad River had a great showing - especially for a first time team. 71% of the teams who started the race failed to finish - a number that could grow before all is said and done. Many veteran teams said that this had been the toughest Eco-Challenge yet. Mad River should be proud that they raced their hearts out and lasted as long as more experienced teams!
