Newton resident Labid Aziz just returned from Chicago, where his film ”Money Shot,” produced and shot by Aziz and directed by Daniel Kopec, was one of 12 films selected for the 72 Hour Film Project, part of the Chicago Underground Film Festival at the Gene Siskel Film Center. The contest limited films to 72 minutes in length, and they had to be shot and edited in one 72-hour period. At 71 minutes, 25 seconds, ”Money Shot” just made it.
The film features ‘Survivor Africa’ winner Ethan Zohn, who was one of only two non-Boston actors in the movie,” says Aziz, a graduate of Brandeis University. He describes the film, shot in the Boston area, as a ”dark and satirical look at the world of independent filmmaking as seen through the eyes of a first time adult-film director.”
Aziz says about 50 people attended the film’s premiere on Tuesday in Chicago. Now he plans to work with local programmer David Kleiler to screen ”Money Shot” in Boston within the next few weeks.
