Episode 6: Outraged!
A quick run down on episode six (avert your eyes if you haven’t seen it yet):
This has to be one of the strangest episodes of Survivor ever. It took thirty minutes to get to the one and only challenge in the show and there were no parting words or voice-over in the credits. I freaking hate it when real-life emotions interfere with reality shows. (Umm, the time line on this might not be 100% correct, I’m working from memory.)
Shii Ann’s upset that Colby doesn’t like her Under the Radar strategy. Colby’s upset that Shii Ann has no spine.
Sue’s upset over the (thankfully) blurred out episode that took event between herself and Rich last week. And by upset, I mean upset. (And, IMHO, she wasn’t “playing” at all. She was deeply upset.)
Ethan spends most of the first part of the episode looking half asleep. I can’t help but wonder if he’s feeling the effects of that blow to the head in the Immunity challenge. He and Lex go fishing - well, Lex goes fishing and Ethan helps secure the catch. Lex, by the way, catches a lot of fish.
Kathy, Shii Ann and Jerri plot while bathing in the ocean. Shii Ann is awed by the power Kathy has now. Whatever! Shii Ann gets far too much face time in this episode for me. She works her two main facial expressions: slack jawed awe/shock and eye-rolling.
Jerri wuvs Lex.
Time for the reward challenge. Sue? VERY UPSET. She yells at Jeff and everyone looks upset and uncomfortable. She quits the game and is given a boat ride off the island.
In the weirdest juxtaposition ever, the intense emotion of Sue leaving is followed by a happy-peppy reward challenge. Mogo Mogo wins and celebrates getting food and spices with a hug orgy. We see them back at camp enjoying their food - at least there’s no shot of Ethan drooling this time.
The rest of the ep is most uncomfortable as it consists of Saboga’s reaction to Sue’s situation. We get RobM singing while Tom dances. Somewhere in the US, if she’s watching this, Sue’s head explodes. As usual, throughout the ep, Rupert knows all and knows how the whole thing should have been handled.
Next week? Why a big twist, of course.
