Dribble 08 Update

Greetings from Day 9 of the Dribble – right now we are in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, about 50 miles into our journey – and in our second state!

First, I want to bring you up to speed on a very exciting opportunity Grassroot Soccer has – we are entered into the AMEX Members Project competition with a chance of winning $1,5 Million – that’s enough to reach half a million at-risk kids in Africa. We are currently placed 28th with a strong possibility of making it to the top 25 that go into round 2 - BUT we need all of your votes and the votes of all of your friends! Please vote by the end of Monday, September 1st.

Nominating GRS “Using the Power of Soccer to Fight AIDS in Africa” is super easy!

  1. Go to http://www.membersproject.com/project/view/UUFSAU
  2. Click “Guest members log-in here” in upper-right corner
  3. Click “Guest members sign-up here” (beneath cancel button), fill and submit the form
  4. Click “Nominate this project”

Please send this information to your friends…all it takes is a few minutes and it could make a huge difference!

The Dribble is On!

After a great kick-off at Gillette stadium we started out 550 mile journey, dribbling a soccer ball, drinking powerade, eating clif bars and shooting into Pugg goals! Thanks to the Adam Ezra group for a great show at the tailgate.

We had our first big youth event in Hingham, MA on Wednesday, Agust 27th. Over 100 young soccer players from Hingham’s Galway Rovers got involved, enjoying soccer drills with Ethan as well as learning a few Grassroot Soccer HIV prevention games. To read more about this event check out the article in the Patriot Ledger.

Thanks to PUMA, Powerade, Pugg Goals and the Galway Rovers for such a great event. Please contact Lucasr@grassrootsoccer.org if you would like to set up a similar event!

More coming soon, but for now…

Dribble on!
